[Chell nods again and slides the portal gun over her right hand. She turns to face the inn, taking several steps back. The gun hums and fires a single blue ray at the wall, the bright particles scattering upon hitting the stone surface. She fires an orange ray with the same result.

She repeats with a nearby tree as well as the ground. The same results as before: no portals.
